Christmas Time!

Well, this weekend was very busy for us. It all started with the Annual Gardendale Christmas Parade Thursday night. Kaitlyn was in the parade on the Dream Chasers float. This is the drama group she is in here in the community. Then she sang for the annual Santa Breakfast. I will try to upload a video of them singing next. The group picture is in the slide show below. Sunday we all loaded up to go to the Calera Train Station to ride "The Polar Express" to the North Pole. It was SO much fun! Price LOVED it. You know how he is around Santa...remember last years' picture...ok so we weren't sure how he was going to react. However, the atmosphere must have been the trick because he all but ran down the aisle to Santa. We all got bells from Santa's sleigh...reference the book...and milk and cookies and the kids got commemorative ornaments. It was the best night we've had in a while. Enjoy the pictures and see you all soon!

JUST FOUND THIS....

My Auburn buddy here at work...Dianne...found this today. She was looking for the AU Marching Band CD and guess what was on the cover....

THAT'S OUR FIREWORKS IN THE BACKGROUND!!!

How cool is that?!?!?

Auburn - LSU

This past weekend was the Auburn-LSU game in Auburn. Our fireworks company got the contract to do fireworks for the opening of the game. It was GREAT. Since the game was at night we decided to try "the bus" one more time. "The bus" is our '86 Motorhome that Ronnie's grandfather(PaPaw) graciously gave us for Christmas. It has had a few problems but in the end has been ok.

So, Friday afternoon I checked Kaitlyn out of school early to go to Auburn and get our tailgating spot. DaddaRick brought the bus. We got a great parking place behind the CDV Extension. (I am a little partial to this place...This is where I lived the 4 years I was in Auburn.) It is close enough to the stadium yet not that close to the "party" area of Wire Rd. Friday night we got the bus all set up. It was flawless. The kids ate supper at the table. I took their picture. PaPaw would be proud! The Good Year blimp was making it's rounds Friday and it went directly over us. Price loved it. Saturday was "game day"! We got up, MiMi cooked us pancakes, and Tim and Tommy got there with the fireworks. Not too much later, our friends from Gardendale got there. We had lunch and Samantha and I went to the stadium to "help" the guys with the fireworks...Actually we just hung out on the field and saw Tommy Tuberville. While we were at the stadium Pat Keedy and Gerald Arrington decided they would teach Price how to "Kick Off". Pat taught him to put his hand up, wait for the whistle, and then run and kick the ball. They showed us this trick after the game.

Since we didn't have tickets for the kids, MiMi stayed out with them during the game. We couldn't get our satallite working so I decided to go back out and hang with them. We went over and watched the game with LSU people. I know what you are going to say...but they were nice people. They actually are "famous" in LSU circles. They are the "Pimpin' Ain't Easy Tailgating" crew. They have a website(www.pimpinainteasytailgating.com) and said to be checking back and we should be on there. They were a hoot. The more LSU was loosing (in the first half) the more they were drinking. They were really cool though. No cussing or anything in front of the kids.

Sunday, we made our way back to Gardendale. We rested and got ready for the week.

Enjoy the pictures and check back later for updates.

Since I last posted...

We have been busy at the Hardy house. September has been filled with us getting back in the routine of something to do every night.

On the 3rd, we had a family night at the church and it was my mom's birthday. It was a fun night at our property where the new church is being built. The kids had games and rides to play, there was a Deacon/Staff softball game and a prayer walk over the new space for our sanctuary. I did not go up there that night. I stayed back with Price. My office went up that afternoon and prayed over the area. It was a neat experience. Lots of change coming but I believe it will be good changes. While we were playing on the field there was an inflatable there that had basketball on one side, baseball on another and so on...well, Price of course went straight to that and never left. He was hitting the ball off this air blown tee and hitting it every time. Every one was impressed. Even the guy who owns the inflatable said he had never seen anybody hit every ball...and he had seen lots of people try. Kaitlyn tried her hand at rock wall climbing. I don't think she ever made it higher than about 10 feet but she tried. She also rode the "Race Car Train". This is a train so to speak that is made up of replica race cars and it FLIES. They play loud music and everything.

That Friday night we did fireworks for the Gardendale Football Game. It was great. We gave them a show for the first Home Opener and did it in memory of Katie Burkett. Her parents are good friends of ours. Katie passed away July 20th in a terrible car accident.

Saturday was of course Auburn Football. It was an ok game. Not the best but it was a win. We then went to Ronnie's Grandparents' house in Hueytown. His dad was in town. It was good to see him and Deb. They live in Little Rock and we only get a few times a year to visit.

This past week was the norm...Gymnastics, dance, children's choir, church, etc. Children's choir started this week. Kaitlyn loves choir. She is in the choir at school and at church. Mother and I are teaching a preschool choir class this year. It should be fun. We are teaching Price's class. This week was our first time and boy was it fun. We only had 6 three year olds. I expect more next week. Mother did the lesson and I did the crafts and took them outside. I have more patience for that than mother. She also (conveniently) had a conference call she had to leave early for.

Thursday and Friday I was able to keep my nephews. It was so much fun. Wednesday Michelle and I took Parker to Dr. Amason's. He had been running a fever for a few days so we wanted to make sure nothing else was going on. Thursday I took half a day off and kept him home from daycare. Mother kept him the morning and we tag teamed and I had him for the afternoon. Friday I kept both of them and Price. It was a good day. Even though they were puny, I felt at home with the children. I miss being with other kids day in and day out.

Saturday was Auburn Football again. Not the greatest game again. We played Miss. State and it was very stinky. It was a win and that is about all I can say about it. We went to our friends' house for a tailgate party. Jonathan and Rachel invited us and others up to their house and we had a blast. The kids went. They drew on the sidewalk with chalk, played corn hole, and watched Disney channel. Jonathan tried to teach Price the art of grilling. He wasn't too sure of the charcoal so Jonathan showed him how he could draw on himself and the sidewalk. Price got leveled by their dog, Tiny. The name does not describe the size of this dog. It is a Great Dane and is HUGE. The dog's body is taller than Price. Took him out twice. He was fine though. Scared him the first time but he was better the second. We really had a good time being with other people. Hopefully we can hang out with them more.

I know this post is long...Hopefully I will not let it go this long again without updating. Enjoy the pictures on the slide show (you will prolly need to turn your head on a few. I couldn't get them to uplaod correctly.) and talk to you soon!

Auburn Football

On Friday, Ronnie and I went to Auburn with our good friends Jonathan and Rachel. We went down early that morning to mark off our spot for the motor home. We got there and set up our tent, chairs and corn hole game. Rachel and I settled in to our chairs as Jonathan taught Ronnie the art of Corn Hole. Then the call came...the motor home was dead on the side of 280 in Inverness. Rachel and I tried to make a plan before telling the guys what was going on. As I made phone calls to find a place to stay the night, Rachel kept watching the game as if nothing was happening. Finally we got the final word the motor home was not going to make it down. That's when we decided to tell the guys. It was all good. Ronnie didn't come unglued as I had imagined. Jonathan got on the phone with a friend of Stacey's (his sister) and we got a place to stay the night. Thanks Amy T.

On Saturday we got up and got to our tailgating spot. Beautiful day for some Auburn Football. Rachel Hardy came down with our clothes from the motor home. We ate, shopped and played Corn Hole until it was game time. As kickoff got closer we went our separate ways because all our tickets were split up. The game began. It was great. The band looked great as always. (Former AUBand nerd here ;-) ) The game was over. We broke our tailgating spot down and came home. Just another wonderful weekend in Auburn. Hopefully there will be more to come.

Enjoy the pictures and WAR EAGLE!!!

Week of 8/25/08

This week was busy for us. Kaitlyn got back in the swing of things with gymnastics and dance. Gymnastics is on Mondays in Vestavia and Danice is on Wednesdays in Gardendale. This week also brought the elections in Gardendale. Tim was running for City Council Seat for Ward 1. He didn't win but got some good experience. The night of the election we all went to Doodles for dinner. It had been raining for days because of Hurricane Faye. Ronnie, being the Super Dad he is, let Price run through the puddles. Price LOVES water...Big Water...Little Water...Any Water.
With the end of the week approaching that could only mean one thing...AUBURN FOOTBALL was about to begin.

Super Suppers....

Hello friends...
Charlotte Guffin and I went to Super Suppers today to make some food. Super Suppers (SS from now on) is a place where you go and make meals for your family. Bring them home and put them in the freezer. When you get ready to have a home cooked meal, you pull one out and cook it. Fabulous idea! So Ronnie and I were discussing our SS meals with Charlotte at the beach this summer and she thought she would like to do that. Well, today was the day! We met at the church at 9:45. We head over to Vestavia where SS is located. When we got there I asked Charlotte if she'd like to go see where Rick and Bubba broadcast from. SS is located in the same center as the Rick and Bubba Broadcast Plaza and Teleport. She said OF COURSE! So we go up the stairs. They were doing the closed broadcast feeds (big names for commercials for other radio stations). I took her picture in front of the big window. Then we headed back downstairs to SS.
We walk in the store and we make our selections from the menu. Charlotte signs up for email alerts and we get our aprons. This make her feel very special. Next we go to wash our hands...you know working with food you have to be clean. This is a hilarious story...They have a hand washing area. This includes a sink, foam soap dispenser, foam hand sanitizer dispenser, and paper towel dispenser. So I go over and wash my hands. Charlotte comes over to wash her hands and can't really figure out where the soap is. I say...it is the black one on the right. So she puts her hand under the black dispenser and waits. Waiting for the foam to hit her hand I suppose. So I say...push the button. She says...there is no button. I say...ummm ok push with the palm of your hand so the foam comes out into your fingers. She says OOOHHHHH OK! Then proceeds to wash her hands. Yes I know we have only washed our hands...just wait until we get to the meatloaf!

Now that we have washed our hands, we can start making our food. We picked the Italian sausage and bean Casserole. That was an easy one for her to start with. She did pretty well for her first time. Next we moved to the Baja Burritos. This time all you had to do was measure out everything and put it in a bag. Pretty simple. We moved on the the Taco Meatloaf. This is where it gets dirty... We were measuring and dumping and the next step was to "mix well". I decided to get my hands dirty and get the "mix well" under way. I start mixing with my hands just like you would do at home with a normal meatloaf. This did not sit well with Ms. Charlotte. She mixed some with the spoon and then she said...forget it...I will get my hands dirty too. So she began to mix with her hands. She did NOT like that at all. Good times. Just ask us for more info...

So, now that we are half way through with our preparing, I decide to video Charlotte making her Chicken Pot Pie. Hilarious stuff. Those videos will come as soon as I get them loaded. After the Chicken Pot Pie we finished up with Steak with Mushroom sauce. Paige, the owner of SS, took a
picture with Charlotte and her NEW SS tshirt.

Super Suppers...

I am taking Charlotte Guffin to Super Suppers this morning so it should be great FUN!!!

Check back later...

School...

Ok so we have a 4th grader and one in K3 now. WOW time flies. Price started preschool on Monday. He had no issues beginning in his new room. Ran right in. Of course it helps that mom has a hand in who is in his class so his friends were there with him.
Kaitlyn started school on Wednesday. She was sooooo very excited. She has Mrs. Bean this year. We met her Monday night. She seemed to be very organized and it should be a good year. Kaitlyn hasn't had much trouble with school...yet! Because traffic is so crazy around the schools right now (they are widening the road beside the schools), Kaitlyn has agreed to ride the bus in the mornings and some afternoons. She rode the bus Thursday morning and afternoon. Price and I got her on the bus and DaddaRick was there when she got off in the afternoon. Our neighbors ride so she is not all alone. Price cried when she left. It was very sweet. He was being the little brother and didn't want her to leave without him.

Busy Week

Since I last posted we have had a busy weekend and following week. Last Friday night we had an Olympic Opening Ceremonies party at Lakeshore Foundation. Daddy got us tickets. There was GREAT Chinese food and really good fireworks. (I wonder who did those? ;-) ) Kaitlyn spent the night with her friend Kyndall and Aunt Rachel came over for some one on one time with Price. I think that is the first time she has had him all to herself. Aunt Rachel and Kaitlyn are VERY close. They spent alot of time together while Rachel lived in Gardendale. So having Price all to herself was good.

Saturday night Kaitlyn had Kyndall over to spend the night and go to church with us Sunday morning. When we got home from lunch, they wanted to jump on the trampoline. Well, DaddaRick brought them some Chinese umbrellas from the party Friday night and they thoroughly enjoyed them. They jumped on the trampoline and hid from Price with their umbrellas.

After a full weekend...School started....

New things...

Thanks to Gramma and GT for the golf set and Lightning & Mack Mega Blocks set. We have enjoyed them soooo much! We play golf about as much as basketball these days.

We went to a "Meet & Greet" tonight for one of our perspective City Councilman at Hamburger Heaven. It was good. Price REALLY enjoyed the "Deer Hunter" game. He was shootin' everything and everybody.

In case you are wondering where Kaitlyn is all this time...she is with a friend spending the night. I will get some new things on her soon. First day of school is coming up...4th Grade...Mercy where the time goes...

Basketball

I am really getting in to this thing. Price is so into balls of any description...football, baseball, basketball...you get the picture. So The Guffin's got him a "cool basketball" while we were at the beach and he has had a blast with it. Shooin it in da hoe (Shooting it in the hole in Price talk). So DaddaRick got him a goal yesterday and that is all we have been doing since.

New to the blogging world...

Ok so I decided to try this blogging thing out to try and keep the family and friends up to date with the children's activities and family outings. Hope you enjoy!
